GPS – Garmin Nuvi updates?

I recently downloaded updated maps for my garmin. I have installed them onto the item and now have Garmin City Navigator on my laptop. As this is 2GB in size I really don’t want it. If the garmin has already been updated, is there any need for me to keep this on my laptop? Will I need it for future updates?

No, you do not need to keep it on your laptop, but yes, you will have to re-install it on the PC if you wish to update your maps.

I don’t have any experience with the phone, but I suspect that it did not install a full 2GB of data to the PC… You can always burn the program to a DVD, or get a $15 4GB “flash drive” and copy it to there for safe keeping until you want to update again.
