How do I hook up my Dish Network receiver to my Acer Laptop?

I assume i need a tv tuner card, either usb or express card. My problem is all the other blow-hards on here keep blabbering about things that do not solve my problem.
My problem is simple. I want to hook composite cables from my dish reciever to my vista premium laptop for the sole purpose of taking advantage of media center’s recording capablilites.

Yes, you need a tv tuner card. I don’t know if there are any express card ones, but there are plenty of usb tuners. You can use composite cables, but s-video will give you slightly better video quality (and most usb tuners have both inputs). I’m sure you can find plenty of usb tv tuners/capture devices with a google search. Some tv tuners are just meant for tuning over the air television, so they just have a RF (coaxial) input, you should get one with a composite and s-video input. Your receiver probably has a RF output, but the picture and audio quality will be much better with s-video and RCA (composite) audio.
